Why trust MacKenzie Orthotics?

*** Mr. MacKenzie is no longer servicing local patients. Off-the-shelf recommendations: Foot Orthotic Recommendations. If you need custom services in the Saint John area, Mr. MacKenzie recommends Thera-Ped at (506) 632-9397.***

Mr. MacKenzie is a Certified Pedorthist with several prior years experience as a physiotherapist.

As a Canadian Certified Pedorthist, he has specific training focused on correcting biomechanical insufficiencies of the feet through custom made and off-the-shelf foot orthotics, custom made sandals, orthopedic shoes, shoe fitting, shoe modification, and foot and ankle braces.

His past physiotherapy training and experience enables him to understand orthopedic assessment and exercise and can optimize effectiveness of orthotics and orthopedic braces. There are only a few practitioners in the country with this dual experience.

Thorough assessment is completed in standing, lying down, and while walking. Assessment takes 45 minutes to one hour. Patient education is an essential focus.

Mr. MacKenzie has over fifteen years of experience working in orthopedics.

Detailed reports are sent to referrers and family physicians after assessment.

Orthotics are made from positive molds. Negative cast impressions of the actual feet are completed and a positive mold created from the negative impression. The orthotic is made from the positive mold. We do not use two dimensional force plate readings as the basis of our orthotic manufacturing. A true custom fit is achieved from a physical negative impression and positive mold of the actual foot.

Biotech Orthotic Design is a versatile lab that enables construction of virtually all types of hard and soft-shelled orthotics. It is a trusted Canadian lab run by a former president of the Pedorthic Association of Canada, experienced pedorthists and many other qualified staff. Close proximity and working with fellow professionals enables close communication, which is essential to translate assessments into appropriate orthotics. Turn around time is two weeks at the lab.

Mr. MacKenzie continues to pursue courses and seminars to remain current in the field. He has attended several national pedorthic education conferences and continuing education courses in Orthotic Assessment and Fitting, Manual Therapy and Orthopedic Assessment (levels E3 & V3), Foot Injury and Treatment, Movement System Imbalances, 2004 N.S. Podiatry Association Seminars, The Running Injuries Course from Sport Physiotherapy Canada, Fit Fore Golf, Orthotics in Sport, etc.

Mr. MacKenzie maintains membership in the Pedorthic Association of Canada and the College of Pedorthics of Canada.
